Integrated Offender Management
Building on the success of the Prolific and other Priority Offender (PPO) scheme, York and North Yorkshire Probation Trust, North Yorkshire Police, Foundation Housing, local drug/alcohol treatment providers and other partners, have introduced a new way of working to intensively manage up to 1,000 of York and North Yorkshire’s most persistent offenders - Integrated Offender Management (IOM).
The basic concept of IOM is to work with those offenders who have the motivation to stop offending, so that criminal justice agencies can free up space in the system to focus their efforts on catching and convicting those offenders who pose a greater risk to our communities.
The IOM teams achieves this by supervising and monitoring offenders on the programme and by helping them to gain access to appropriate support to lead a life free of crime. That support can range from assistance to find accommodation, training and employment - right through to anger management and treatment for substance misuse.
Close supervision of these offenders means that if they refuse to engage with the programme, then swift enforcement action can be taken.
We have teams in York, Scarborough and Harrogate.
