Offenders hard graft pays off as river levels rise
As the threat of flooding continued to hit parts of North Yorkshire, scores of sandbags have been delivered to flood struck villagers, filled by hard working local offenders.
The work, undertaken in partnership with Richmondshire District Council, is part of their Community Payback.

Scarborough cemetery make over
Work has started on restoration of headstones in the huge Victorian graveyard in Scarborough, where it is estimated that 60% of the memorials are either laid down for safety reasons or have been damaged by the ravages of time.

£50 million extra for victims of crime
Offenders will be forced to pay up to £50 million a year to help victims recover from the trauma of serious crime. This is on top of the £66 million each year central Government already dedicates to services supporting victims and witnesses.

Spring clean for York
York and North Yorkshire Probation Trust’s Community Payback team will be joining forces with City of York Council and local residents next month to carry out a city wide spring clean of York.
Community Payback Annual Report 2012
Offenders worked over 125,000 hours on Community Payback projects last year worth over £930,000* of free labour to communities in York and North Yorkshire, according to the Probation Trust’s third Community Payback annual report published today.
Customer Service Excellence Award
The Trust has been awarded the Customer Service Excellence award for its exceptional standard of service to customers following a detailed and demanding assessment in January.
